Just a 30-minute ride over the waves, its exquisite old town isn't called the Pearl of the Adriatic for nothing. Enclosed by thick, honey-stoned walls, its marble-stoned streets, Baroque churches and glorious palaces make it a living, breathing museum. Walk the walls, sip an iced coffee in one of the countless pavement cafes and explore the shaded passageways and graceful, buzzing squares. Alternatively, take the boat to palm-lined Cavtat, sampling its pine-cooled beaches and classy waterfront restaurants. Come nightfall, relax into the slumbering calm of Plat, feasting on fresh, salt-baked fish or succulent roast lamb as the stars twinkle above.
